Who would have thought back in March that we would still be as heavily impacted by the Corona virus and be looking online instead of gathering in the church for spiritual nourishment and encouragement. Well here we are, and here you are reading this, and my prayer is that indeed you will be both nourished by God’s word and encouraged in these days.
As we stay rooted in the Bible we find strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow. Ecclesiastes 3 says that there is a time for everything. For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
11 Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.
Is there beauty in the isolation of a pandemic? Well, there can be. This time has drawn a number of people closer in different ways, many virtually through technology. I can only imagine that our website that brought you to this devotional thought has been more active than prior to the pandemic, and that there is a greater longing to get back to church and interact in personal ways than there was when it was expected that life would just go on as it always had. This has caused a much needed greater appreciation for living in the moment, for embracing the reality that this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. Psalm 118.
As Ecclesiastes 3:11 says above, we cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end, but what we can do is to recall His goodness and faithfulness throughout our lives to know that even in the midst of a global pandemic He is in control. Even in the midst of personal challenges, He is in control.
The grass of 2020 will wither, and the flowers of 2020 will fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever. Isaiah 40:8
The steadfast Love of the Lord never ceases
His mercies never come to an end
They are new every morning, new every morning
Great is your faithfulness oh Lord, Great is your faithfulness.
As we continue to navigate the challenges of Covid 19 let us not simply GO through it and endure it, but let us GROW through it and continue to seek and be encouraged by God’s constant presence, provision, and blessing in each of our lives. And let us share the HOPE that we have because of our personal relationship with our loving Saviour Jesus Christ, remembering that He is able to do immeasurably more that we could ask or imagine according to His power that is at work within us. Eph 3;20
