PREPARING
I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness: make straight the way of the Lord. (John 1:22,23)John’s reference to the words of Isaiah the prophet provide a very simple but beautifully inspiring reminder as we move through December and ponder how to spiritually prepare ourselves for our annual re-celebration of Christmas.Some days it feels that we too are in the wilderness, surrounded by secular obsessions that dominate our culture, and by the disturbing challenges that face Christian churches and Christians today. John’s words encourage us to light the way, to make it straight, not to just follow the way that leads to Jesus, but to be an example along the way, a guide for others on the journey towards the re-birth of Jesus in our hearts.
