time for Love
For God so loved the world that God gave us Jesus that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Corinthians 13:4-7
If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High. Luke 6:32-36
Dear friends, let us love one another for Love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God . . .1John 4:7 -21
Love is not merely an attribute of God, it is part of God’s very makeup. God is not merely loving; God is love. God alone loves in the completeness and perfection of Love. Love comes from God. God is its source. And since God is Love then we who are born of God will also love. God Loves us, so we must love one another. A true Christian, one saved by Love through Jesus and filled with God’s love, must live in love toward God and others.
In this section of Scripture from 1 John, we learn that brotherly love is our response to God’s love. Jesus teaches believers how to show His love to others, to our friends, family, and even our enemies. God’s love is unconditional, very different from human love that we experience with one another because it is not based on feelings; it is not because we please God that we are loved, God loves us simply because God is Love.
